please do. We will be happy to have a chat, without any obligation on your part.
We will do our best to answer your questions, tell you about the state of the market
in your area of expertise, discuss your options with you and, in conjunction with
yourself, work out a strategy to help you find your next job. We will be more than
happy to work at your pace – on several occasions we have placed candidates more
than 12 months after they first contacted us.
Do you charge any fees to candidates?
No,
our service is free to all candidates. There are no hidden fees of any sort, e.g.
for assisting candidates to prepare their CV. We charge fees only to our clients.
Is
your service confidential?
Yes – most definitely. We appreciate the importance of
this to our candidates and clients alike. Our reputation is built on providing a
confidential service at all times.
Who decides to which firms my CV is submitted?
You
do! We firmly believe that the candidate should be in control – after all it’s your
career. We will discuss opportunities with you, provide you with information relating
to the firm, and so on. But we will then leave it up to you to decide whether your
CV should be submitted or not. We will only submit your CV after you have authorised
us to do so.
Do you help with CV preparation?
Yes, we have been doing this since 1997.
We will initially ask you to submit your CV to us in writing (typed or handwritten),
and we will then contact you for any further information we require and, if appropriate
we will suggest changes to improve the presentation.
Can you help me to obtain a work
permit or visa to work in the UK?
No, we are not experienced or qualified in this
area. We can only assist candidates who have the right to live and work in the UK.
Who
and where are your clients?
We recruit into private practices only. Our clients are
firms of solicitors and accountants based in the UK and internationally. Our clients
include firms of all sizes – from sole practitioners to the Magic Circle/Big 4 firms.
Who is your ideal candidate?
We assist candidates looking for permanent positions
at all levels – from newly qualified to equity partner level. We are also very happy
to advise ‘teams’ as well.
I can’t see my ideal job on your website – should I still
contact you?
Yes. At any time we can only put a selection of jobs we are handling
on our website, and new jobs come in on a regular basis. Also, one of our skills
is to carry out the research to help you find your next job. In addition, we can
also help to ‘create’ your next job – as a firm may be able to take you on once they
find out a person of your calibre is looking for a new position. Our service is very
proactive – because we know our market.
Do I need a fee following for a partnership
role?
Usually, but not always. Quite often we have clients who have more work they
can cope with, or a partner may be about to retire – so they want a partner to help
handle the existing workload. There is no doubt that a fee following helps in securing
a direct entry partnership position, but it’s also a question of what you ‘bring
to the table’. We have the skills to get you in front of firms to enter into discussions
about direct entry partnership, and to help thereafter in working to a satisfactory
outcome for all parties.
