You are busy doing your own job. Do you really have the time and research facility to find your next position on your own? Are you going to know about the vacancies available in the market place? Remember, not all vacancies are posted on the firms’ websites. We network with our clients – so why not benefit from this and save yourself a lot of time and effort.
Vacancies not in the public domain. A lot of the positions we deal with, especially at Partner/Director level, are never advertised.
Confidentiality assured. We will only ever submit your résumé to a client after being authorised by you to send it there. After all, it is your career and we firmly believe you should have the final say in where your CV goes.
Contacting specific firms. It may be that you are interested in a particular firm or firms, but they are not advertising for someone with your experience and you do not want to divulge your identity at this stage. We are quite happy in this instance to contact the firm(s) on a ‘no names’ basis to find out if they would be interested in a candidate with your experience and skills set. We will maintain your confidentiality by not giving any information which might identify who you are. If they are interested in meeting you then we will advise you of the opportunity and, if you are interested in taking it further, arrange a meeting. We have used this ‘no names’ approach on countless occasions, with success – including at direct entry partner level.
We ascertain your motivations for making a move. Based on what you say, and on your values and abilities, we will advise you of positions which may interest you.
Be prepared. We can assist you in preparing a professional résumé which will make a strong impact on the reader. We will prepare you for each interview and let you have the client’s feedback as soon as we have it.
We will work to your timeframe. We will not rush you or pressurise you take an opportunity which you feel is not right for you. We will not be doing any favours to you or our clients if that were the case.
We have the skills to sell your expertise. We will highlight not only your technical
skills but also (if appropriate) your management, marketing and inter-

The danger is you can come across as being purely money motivated, which may actually lead to a breakdown in negotiations, or you start your new job with some ‘baggage’ already built up.
